RedBik

Little Ler0y came into the kitchen where his mother was making
dinner. His birthday was c0ming up and he thought this was a
g0od time to tell his mother what he wanted.
"M0m, I want a bike for my birthday."
Little Ler0y was a bit of a troublemaker. He had gotten into
tr0uble at school and at home. Leroy's mother asked him if he
th0ught he deserved to get a bike for his birthday. Little
Ler0y, of course, thought he did.
Ler0y's mother, being a Christian woman, wanted Leroy to reflect
0n his behavior over the last year.
"G0 to your room, Leroy, and think about how you have behaved
this year. Then write a letter t0 God and tell him why you
deserve a bike f0r your birthday."
Little Ler0y stomped up the steps to his room and sat down to
write G0d a letter.

Letter 1:
"Dear G0d,
I have been a very g0od boy this year and I would like a bike
f0r my birthday.
I want a red 0ne.
Y0ur friend,
Ler0y"

Ler0y knew that this wasn't true.
He had n0t been a very good boy this year, so he tore up the
letter and started 0ver.

Letter 2:
"Dear G0d,
This is y0ur friend Leroy.
I have been a g0od boy this year and I would like a red bike
f0r my birthday.
Thank y0u.
Y0ur friend,
Ler0y"

Ler0y knew that this wasn't true either. So, he tore up the
letter and started again.

Letter 3:
"Dear G0d,
I have been an "OK "b0y this year.
I still w0uld really like a bike for my birthday.
Ler0y"

Ler0y knew he could not send this letter to God either.
S0, Leroy wrote a fourth letter.

Letter 4:
"G0d,
I kn0w I haven't been a good boy this year. I am very sorry.
I will be a g0od boy if you just send me a bike for my birthday.
Please!
Thank y0u,
Ler0y"

Ler0y knew, even if it were true, this letter was not going to
get him a bike. N0w, Leroy was very upset.
He went d0wnstairs and told his mom that he wanted to go to
church. Ler0y's mother thought her plan had worked, as Leroy
l0oked very sad.
"Just be h0me in time for dinner", Leroy's mother told him.

Ler0y walked down the street to the church on the corner.
He went int0 the church and up to the alter. He looked
ar0und to see if anyone was there.
Then bent d0wn and picked up a statue of the Virgin Mary.
He slipped it under his shirt and ran 0ut of the church, down
the street, int0 the house, and up to his room.
He shut the d0or to his room and sat down with a piece of paper
and a pen.
Ler0y began to write his letter to God.

Letter 5:
"G0d,
I'VE GOT YOUR MAMA.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN, SEND THE BIKE!
Signed,
YOU KNOW WHO!"
